This week in Year 3 & 4 during UOI class the students continued learning about the Human Body Systems. The system that the students focused on this week was the Circulatory System. The students found it fascinating that all blood is not the colour red and that blood that has no oxygen in it is the colour blue. The students also worked on a diagram of the Human Heart to understand how the blood flows in and out of it to keep it beating.
In English Class the students worked on practicing their writing skills. The students worked in their colour groups to brainstorm and create a story that they could incorporate their Spelling words into. The students exchanged their stories with the other colour groups for proof-reading and peer assessment. Once the students re-edited their stories and made their corrections they presented their stories to the class to enjoy.
In Maths the students continued their work in Place Values. Each group took part in a different activity this week. One group worked on creating a Place Value Spider, another group took part in creating Place Value snakes. Next week will we begin to work on addition and subtraction of Mental Maths with the students.
Today was Mr. Captain's last day assisting our Year 3/4 class. I want to thank him for all of his hard work and support over the course of the past three weeks. I hope he was able to learn some new things during his time in our class and at UDIS. You will be missed and we wish you a bright and successful year in Canada.
