Year 3/4 Week 11 Blog

This week in UOI class the students began gathering their facts on the natural disasters that they will be researching. Each group has been assigned to one natural disaster and will be required to create both a slideshow presentation and build a model that is representative of their assigned natural disaster by the end of unit 2.

In Maths Class the students worked in their groups to learn about Geometry. They have been working on identifying 2-D and 3-D shapes. Some groups have also been working on addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers. For subtraction the students are working on borrowing for different place values to solve for the correct answer.

In English Class the students worked on irregular verbs, identifying words with specific letters and letter endings. The students also worked on reading comprehension and building fluency skills. As part of their writing task this week the students worked on writing chapters that go with particular stories they are reading. They also worked on their presentation skills to prepare for our assembly on the Rights of Children. Our Year 3/4 students had a wonderful time presenting our assembly to the school.

This Friday was Parent's Education Day at UDIS. We thank all of the parents for joining our English classes this morning. Thank you for your support and help while our students worked at their English Stations. I hope you enjoyed it as much as the students and I did. I want to also welcome our new teaching assistant in Year 3/4 Ms. May. We are very glad to have her help and support in our class.
