In English class we have been working on building verbal and written communication skills. The students have been using sentence starters to enhance their writing and help them with building topic sentences. Some of the new teaching strategies that we have introduced to the class for our no pencil Wednesday period help to build recalling skills, thinking skills as well as build student confidence when speaking in English.

For UOI class the students were introduced to new forms of natural disasters that they have not researched. Some example of the natural disasters that were covered this week were blizzard, flash floods, drought and landslides. Next week we will visit two locations for our Year 3/4 field trip which relates directly to our UOI and will help enhance the students knowledge of how the community reacts and can help others during a natural disaster.

For Maths class this week we have been working with the students on measuring angles using a protractor and identifying right, obtuse and acute angles. We have also introduced units of measurement for length and mass. Next week we will continue to focus and build additional skills on these mathematical concepts.

For our whole school assembly this week the students learned about Loy Krathong and why it is celebrated and an important tradition practiced in Thailand. The students were all beautifully dressed in tradition Thai clothing and took part in a fabulous celebration.
