Swimming
Our swimming days in Year 4 are Tuesdays and Fridays. It is really important that your child brings their swimming kit. If however there is a reason why your child cannot swim one day, please either notify the office or send in a note with reasons why. We will require to be notified for each missed swimming day so that Mr. Xavi can be made aware. Thank you for your understanding.
Homework
Reading - your child should be reading for at least 10 minutes every evening whether on their own or to a family member. This is a good opportunity for your child to read for pleasure and develop those key readings skills required in day to day life.
Maths - practice 3-digit by 2-digit addition and subtraction, but have a go at doing them in your head (mental method). For example: 243 + 40, 425 + 60, 253 - 30, 346 - 50. This is a good way to use the place value skills we have been learning about this week. If you like, you can make a poster of all the different sums you have worked out in your head.
Spellings - Mr. John.E has given your child a spelling grid. It is up to your child to decide which spelling list they wish to challenge themselves with.
Maths
We have been recognising the place value of each digit in 4 and 5 digit numbers. From this we then compared numbers beyond 1000, ordering them smallest to largest or largest to smallest. We have also been finding 1000 more or less than a given number as well as finding number patterns by adding 1000, 2000 or 3000 more.
Next week, we will be looking at mental addition and subtraction starting with 3-digit by 2-digit sums and working towards 3-digit by 3-digit. Who is up for the challenge of having a go at 4-digit by 3-digit? We will also start looking at one step and two step word problems using addition and subtraction.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me on charlotte.r@udoninternationalschool.com and thank you for your continued support.
Have a great weekend!
Ms. Charlie and Ms. Ning
