Year 4 Term 1 Week 6 Blog

This has been an amazing first week as the year 4 teacher at UDIS! The students and I had many opportunities to learn more about each other and build relationships. I am looking forward to an exciting year of learning and growing! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email me at seth@udoninternationalschool.com

The children and I had the opportunity to discuss how we should style the classroom. It is important for me to know what my students' interests are in order to represent those interest throughout the classroom. Some great ideas the students shared with me include family photos, maps of home countries, student work samples, living plants, and rainbow colours.

Our swimming days in Year 4 are Tuesdays and Fridays. Thank you for remembering your swimming kits this week. Thank you to those parents who notified us when your child was unable to participate in a swimming lesson. If your child cannot do swimming for any particular reason, please notify the office.

In maths this week we have been learning about equivalent fractions and fractions of amounts. The year 4 students have used multiplication and division skills to assist them with their learning. The do still need to keep practicing their times table facts as well as division facts at home. Keep up the great work!

It was a truly wonderful experience for me to take part in the traditional Thai Teacher Appreciation holiday. The students performed perfectly when it came time for them to present their gifts. Nino, Poom, Sarah, Tashi, Mark, and Prim made me feel honoured to be a teacher and further inspired me to make sure I am providing the best education possible. I want to thank my students, the parents, and UDIS faculty for an amazing day!

This week in English class, we have been learning about alliteration. We created this display in our classroom.
Here are some examples of our alliterative sentences.

  • Pin paints a peacock perfectly in the Philippines.
  • Phee the Polar bear predator politely ate the pineapple and printed a poem on the printer.
  • Sixteen snails in the safari park safely passing the scanner.
  • Every eagle destroys their effortless nest in excitement.
  • Lew the lizard licked a lime lollipop in Landmark.
  • Eric the elephant is eating enormous Easter eggs everywhere in England.
  • Angry Athens ate a lot of apples on the airplane in April.

We have also been learning about world religions during our Unit of Inquiry lessons. The students have been excited to research and discover new understanding regarding the main religions of the world.
