Swimming

Our swimming days in Year 4 are Tuesdays and Fridays. Thank you for remembering your swimming kits this week. Thank you to those parents who notified us when your child was unable to participate in a swimming lesson. If your child cannot do swimming for any particular reason, please notify the office.

Maths

This week we have been looking at 2D shapes and their properties. We have been on a shape hunt, drawn a shape's reflection using mirrors to think about symmetry and made paper folding patterns. The Year 4s have worked really hard this week. Well done!

Next week, we will be looking at the 9 and 6 times tables. Have a practice over the weekend at multiplication and division facts for the 9 and 6 times tables - this will help build a foundation for your child's learning!

Assembly - Beach Volleyball

In this week's assembly, Mr.Xavi held a House Team Beach Volleyball Tournament - without the sand. The whole school worked together in their house teams to try and score as many points as possible. Even the staff joined in! At the end of the tournament, it was the Black Team who were victorious. Well done to all the children and staff at UDIS for taking part. We had so much fun!

Homework

Reading - your child should be reading for at least 10 minutes every evening whether on their own or to a family member. This is a good opportunity for your child to read for pleasure and develop those key readings skills required in day to day life.

Maths - This week we have been looking at 2D shapes and their properties. For the homework, Y4 need to identify the 2D shapes as well as how many sides and vertices (corners). If they fancy a challenge, see if they can remember what 'line of symmetry' means and how many lines of symmetry there are in each shape. In addition, as we are focusing on 9 and 6 times tables, practice your multiplication and division facts ready for next week. This is a great maths games website to have a look at: https://www.mathplayground.com/grade_4_games.html

Maths homework is due on Wednesday 11th September.

Spellings - Mr. John.E has given your child a spelling grid. It is up to your child to decide which spelling list they wish to challenge themselves with.
