Swimming

Our swimming days in Year 4 are Tuesdays and Fridays. Thank you for remembering your swimming kits this week. Thank you to those parents who notified us when your child was unable to participate in a swimming lesson. If your child cannot do swimming for any particular reason, please notify the office.

Maths

This week we have been practising our times tables with a strong focus on the 9 and 6 times tables. We have done mathletics games to practise our multiplication inside and outside the classroom. We have also had a few times table tests, either working together as a whole class, in pairs or independently. Surprisingly, the Y4s have really enjoyed being tested and have been keen to improve their score. There has also been an introduction to division with the 9 and 6 times table. Great effort everyone!

Next week, we will be looking at equivalent fractions and non-unit fractions (finding a fraction of an amount. With the non-unit fractions element for the week, your child will be using a lot of their times table knowledge. Please work with your child on their times table skills. It will create a great foundation for their learning next week!

Assembly - Y5 class assembly

In this week's assembly, Year 5 did their class assembly with the help of our Y4 students. Thank you to those parents who came along to see what they were getting up to. The assembly was all about 'Personal Identity' and where they see themselves when they are 18, 25, 45, 60 and 80 years old. It was really interesting to see what ideas they came up with.

Homework

Reading - your child should be reading for at least 10 minutes every evening whether on their own or to a family member. This is a good opportunity for your child to read for pleasure and develop those key readings skills required in day to day life.

Maths - This week we have looking at the 9 and 6 times table. The homework this week is practising your times table facts. You can get creative and make a times table learning poster. You can use the website https://www.timestables.com/ to help you.

This is a great maths games website to have a look at: https://www.mathplayground.com/grade_4_games.html

Although we will be using our times table skills all week next week, if you wish to make a poster, this is due on Wednesday 18th September.

Spellings - Mr. John.E has given your child a spelling grid. It is up to your child to decide which spelling list they wish to challenge themselves with.

Thank you for your ongoing support. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact me on charlotte.r@udoninternationalschool.com. You can also find me on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings at the PY court if you wish to speak to me in person.

Have a great weekend and see you on Monday!

Ms. Charlie and Ms. Ning
