Our field trip was this week and the students did an amazing job talking to people in our community about plastic pollution. Students were able to visit Ban Haui Market and Mcdonalds in Central Plaza where they approached people and informed them about the dangers of plastic pollution. It was great to see our learners sharing their ideas, showcasing their knowledge, and acting courageous!
The school assembly this week focused on diversity. Mr. Kane and his year 3 students did a wonderful job teaching all of us about the many differences everyone has and that the most important thing is to treat people with respect.
Maths
Students have been learning about equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, and ordering fractions. Students are understanding that a fraction is a part of a whole. We had a great time this week working on many hands-on projects such as flip books, fraction tables, and posters! Students have been very engaged and consistently look forward to their maths lessons. I have begun to assign maths homework this week and will continue to do so each week throughout the school year.
UOI
Miss Ning was able to secure a guest speaker to come into our classroom and teach our learners about reducing waste, reusing waste, and recycling waste. The students had fun making their own colour coded waste bins out of boxes and coloured paper. Students learned that the different colours help people remember where recyclable waste, dangerous waste, food waste, and normal waste should go when thrown away.
