Term 2 Week 1 Blog 

Hello year 4 parents and happy New Year! It has been an exciting first week of term two. In maths this week, students learned how to divide two digit numbers by single digit numbers such as 32 divided by 8. We also looked at how to solve division problems that contain remainders such as 11 divided by 2. 

Next week in maths, students will continue to practice division including three digit numbers divided by two digit numbers such as 324 divided by 4. Students will also continue to practice their multiplication skills. 

In English class this week, students worked on their spelling of words with the "s" sound in words spelled with "sc" such as science and scissors. Students also completed their end of term one writing samples. The class was also able to look at how to retrieve information from texts by using glossaries, indexes, and contents.   

Next week in English class, students will learn how to use active reading strategies such as generating questions, finding answers, refining thinking, modifying questions, and constructing images. We will also have a new spelling list that looks at words using the "ch" letters such as chef and machine.
