Term2 Week2

For maths this week students have been learning all about division and how to use this knowledge to convert fractions into decimals. It is exciting to see the learners starting to understand how division is closely related to multiplication and how fractions are the same as decimals.

Next week in maths, students will continue to work on division and converting fractions to decimals. Students will also learn how to round decimal numbers as well as add and subtract decimal numbers.

In English class this week students have been continuing to practice their reading aloud skills and reading comprehension. We have also been working a lot with dictionaries so that students can learn how to proofread their written work. Another focus this week has been introducing the learners to the process of peer reviewing written work. Students also had their "sc" words spelling assessment. It should be noted that they all did very well.

Next week in English class students will begin the process of daily writing for persuasive works, personal narratives, and reflections. A major goal for term 2 will be getting the learners to know how to section off their written works with proper paragraphs and refining their abilities to produce quality work through consistent practice and peer review. Students will also be focusing on spelling words with the "ch" sound as in chef and machine. The spelling assessment for those words will be on Wednesday. Please encourage your child to practice.
